How to Advertise on the Website Every supplier, large or small, is treated equally regarding basic free entries. These include entries under all relevant headings for products and/or services plus free inclusion of one address, one phone number, one fax number, one e-mail address, one web address and one contact name in the Address section. In addition, you can enhance your entries and maximise the advantage of being listed on this site in the following ways:- Hyperlinks to your Address: If you like to be more equal than your competitors, we will make your entry stand out and enable visitors to reach your website with just two clicks by "bookmarking" your address, highlighting every entry you have in the directory in yellow and inserting hyperlinks to your address data; we will insert a link from your web address to your own website. We will also use slightly larger type for your entries and give them priority listing. Visitors can then go straight to your address details with a single click, jump to your web-site with another click or send you an e-mail by clicking your e-mail address to bring up an e-mail form. For this we charge only £75 per annum irrespective of the number of entries requiring hyperlinking. Without this extra hyperlinking a visitor who has located your entry in any category can only reach your website by opening the Address section, clicking on the initial letter of your company name, scrolling down to your entry and keying your web address into a browser. Users naturally appreciate the convenience of fully hyperlinked entries. To enter Hyperlinks to your address and from your web address entry to your own web site we only need an official order for £75.00 with full invoicing details - we will do the rest. Expanded Entries: You can further encourage visitors to jump from your address details to your own website by making your address and directory entries more informative. Most searches lead to the Address section, so it is the best possible place for an "Expanded Entry" in the form of a statement of up to100 words in bold type outlining the special features of your products or services. We will also include up to three additional (branch) addresses, the names of up to three more contacts and three more e-mail or web addresses for a total cost of £60 per annum. We know that these statements are greatly valued by users as a source of additional information. You can also expand the brief descriptions against your entries in the various categories of our site. Normally we limit these to a very brief one-line entry of around 60 characters, but companies paying for expanded entries can enlarge slightly on these details to give a better indication of the products or services they offer within a limit of approximately 200 characters per entry. To publish an "Expanded Entry" we need up to 100 words to appear in bold type after your address details plus an official order for £60.00. with full invoicing details. Display Advertising: Because this is a web site, traditional large display advertisements would be ineffective and a nuisance to visitors as they would take considerable time to load and delay searches. Advertisements must be brief and informative to be of value. We have therefore provided spaces that are just large enough for a picture, if appropriate, and a few words describing the main features of your products or services. We will hyperlink your advertisement to your address details in the Address section. We have kept the cost to a minimum to permit small companies to benefit from this facility and enable larger companies to publish multiple advertisements, one in each relevant section. We receive numerous requests for banner advertisements with animation, but users dislike them because they are distracting and we do not accept them. Publication may be delayed until payment has been received. Payments relate to one year from initial publication, but copy can be amended during that time without extra charge. DISPLAY ADVERTISEMENTS ALONGSIDE RELEVANT CATEGORIES For Display Advertising we need suitable "copy" which we will set for you if you wish or you can supply it as a low resolution JPEG file . We have reproduced some dummy advertisements on the left and below to give an indication of how much text can be included. Because this is to be published on the web the final size and appearance of any advertisement is partly dictated by the user's browser. Please keep everything simple and try to use Helvetica (Arial) or Times Roman font. We must keep page loading times to a minimum as some users still rely on a modem connection. There are three advertisement sizes available. Type A costs £95 per annum and measures 280 pixels wide X 240 pixels high (Approx 90mm X 70mm) . Type B advertisements cost £50 per annum and measure 240 pixels high by 140 pixels wide - (Approx 70mm X 45mm) they can appear either alongside suitable text or at the base of the page. Type C Costs £125 per annum and measures 750 pixels wide and 120 pixels high (Approx 242mm X 35mm). A and C type advertisements can only appear at the base of an appropriate page. The maximum picture size we can include as an illustration is 60 pixels X 120 pixels but the picture can be in either portrait or landscape format - this limitation is to speed page loading. We can also scan illustrations without charge from suitable input which should preferably be a colour or B&W original photograph or a line drawing not exceeding A5 size (210mm X 148mm) and preferably smaller. Colour is no problem and can be used for pictures, borders, background and text. There is no charge for simple typesetting, but complex layouts may incur a charge and are, in any case, best avoided in such small spaces. The dummy advertisements below indicate how much can be included and show that limited wording is usually more effective. The simplest way is to set out a frame or table on any word processor. A blank box is sufficient to indicate where you want any picture. and we can reset the text for you. Post, fax or e-mail us the layout with your official order or payment and remember to include any picture you wish us to scan. Please also indicate in which section of this site you wish your advertisement to appear. We will hyperlink your advertisement(s) to your address entry without extra charge.
